Sustainability in the sugar cane agriculture leads to perfect Chjlya enjoyment

1997 the co-op of small farmers was established, in the valley of the river Uruguai near the city Crissiumal in southern Brazil/Rio Grande do Sul. Former wasted fields of conventional agriculture were transformed in fruitful and healthy ecological acres. Besides near the rivers Uruguai, Buricá, Lajeado Leandro e Lajeado Fazenda in total 50 ha of Matla Atlantica rainforest were reafforested. These achievements were an important contribution to the protection of the Brazilian Mata-Atlantica rainforest and the climate as well as for the independent livelihood of the farmers. By the change to ecological agriculture of sugar cane the farmers got new business opportunities and thereby the possibility to install new water pipes and flow lines to Colonia Nova. Their women found working opportunities and got the chance to send their children to school.

The ecological agriculture reduces the rainforest overexploitation and helps the climate. It also guarantees the most accurate production and processing. By growing without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, through the fertile farmland, and not least by abandoning the burning of the leaves before harvest, the strong and pure taste of the cane receives. Freshly pressed and processed immediately, while only the purest distillation fraction is further used. By selling these high quality products, the small farmers of Colonia Nova are directly and strongly supported in Brazil - through social projects, own revenue and the sustainable improvement of soil fertility.
